His undergraduate training as an architect, was followed by professional
development in urban planning, mediation, and business planning.
Emilis was invited to the project team headed by Ecopolis Architects
because of his specialist knowledge on sustainable systems. Notably,
he is published in the Environment Design Guide and Michael Mobbs'
'Susdtainable House' on passive building elements
suited
to hot dry climates. He is published in several Earth Garden
books on renewable energy systems.
He is on the state government
Building Rules Assessment Commission after state government
energy efficiency committees, and he is
anaccredited energy efficiency assessor both by software and
expert opinion. Inaddition, he has been invited to the state
government
wastewater standards committee.
He has collaborated with Ecopolis
on previous projects, as well as developing an extensive portfolio
of sustainable buildings
in his own practice.
His personal stance is manifest by his
own sustainable home/office on a LandCare site at Monarto built
in the early 1980's,
his hybrid electric car, and the sailplanes he flies as
a hobby.
